This time, when we awoke, we were all butt-naked. Well, good as.

The deep gnomes came in and carted us off, one at a time, for questioning.
We were warned in no uncertain terms that our interrogator would not appreciate
any back-talk.

I told the gnomes all I knew, having nothing to hide.
The stupid gnomes had throught that we were an ogre reconnaissance
patrol - the gnomes being at war with the ogres. And the presence of ogre A la Carte
in our group only helped to confirm this assumption.

But no amount of argument would convince them otherwise, so they made a us slaves
in their iron mines. The sentence was one year.

Here, I discovered that Siofra and Smorgus could not keep their smart mouths closed
and back-talked the interrogator. He ordered them killed.

A la Carte was gifted to a bunch of ogres in some kind of prison exchange.

... one year passed ...

The gnomes finally let us go after we served our term.

We trudged despondantly back to Spine and back to Elaine's place.

A la Carte was there. He had escaped the ogres and had been working as a cook for
Elaine for the past year. Elaine used his year's labour to pay for a
Permanent Illusion spell. She duly cast this on him and thus made him
look like an Elf - even though he is still an ogre.

Sick of being Elaine's thralls, we all left Spine and headed for Furness.
A la Carte, enjoyed his work as Eliane's cook and did not actually want to leave with
us. So we said our good-byes and left him.

Travelling through Furndeck city, we met up with three more adventurers: Halcyon, a
Priestess of Panadine, Flung Chow Wong, a monk (temple fighter of Funken Wagnall) and
Jack Rabbit, a little halfling thief.
