Malechai Justice

The entire party, sans Helen, was sacrificed to the hateful glory of Malechai.

But before this, rewind a bit. The party was split into three parts:

Helen was back at Iron City.
Butt was fleeing for his life along the IMAG-Malechai border and the Canker-Malechai border.
And the rest, Metro, Ron, Brad, Xavier and Eve, were attempting to cross the Battle-wards leg of Spine mountains.

Helen turned Malechai's Evidence and gleefully appraised the Malechai priests of all the party's powers, and gave them useful suggestions as how to deal with the party's abilities. Mother Siraiya, new high priestess of Malechai (after the recent coup overthrowing Father Arnett), listened to Helen's suggestions and made plans.

Butt fled into the lands of Canker (Death). His luck finally ran out and he was spotted. Rather than face the approaching Canker patrol, he fled back into Malechai territory. Here, he fought three Malechai assassins, dropped one, and succumbed. His heart was returned to Iron City.

Metro, Ron, Brad, Xavier and Eve were making slow progress into the jagged mountains (attempting to cross the mountains; the LONG trip back to the Free Coast sea). Xavier was carrying the Wand of Death's Door. Malechai thus had a useful way to track the group with Locate Object spell. The party's luck ran out three hours before light of the second night. A group of bones (Malechai demon trackers) spotted their tent, and spotted Eve out on guard. Metro managed to get off a Rope Trick before the first bone attacked, and the whole group got themselves safely stowed inside the Rope Trick's extra-dimensional room. That is, the whole group except little Eve; she was caught by the bones.

An hour passed, and the Rope Trick expired, so the group was ejected from their warm refuge. Here, a group of bones, some orcs and a Malechai priest were waiting, in a delicate ring, counting down the hour, to the second.

It was a short battle.

Mention in dispatches for Buttstrummer dropping two orcs, and for Xavier blinding the Malechai priest with a Light spell. But the hail of arrows, Hold Person spells and some vicious sword-play was far too much from the fighter-free party, and they went down.
